The Importance of Spin Loft in Golf

Spin Loft plays a vital role in determining the spin rate of a golf shot. It can be understood as the angle formed between the dynamic loft of the club and the attack angle. Essentially, Spin Loft is a three-dimensional angle that reflects the relationship between the direction of the club head's movement—encompassing both the club path and attack angle—and the orientation of the club face, which includes the face angle and dynamic loft.

Since the differences in club path and face angle are typically minor compared to the differences between attack angle and dynamic loft, Spin Loft is generally close to the calculation of dynamic loft minus attack angle.
