Some stories start small. For Virpi Olofsson, founder of GSS Golf Studio Sweden, it began with a bicycle, a local golf course and a simple question: did they have any work for him? They let him help out on the driving range. He was not paid in money, but in golf balls. From that moment on, he was hooked.
Today, Virpi combines that same passion with more than twenty years of entrepreneurship. GSS builds complete golf simulator environments across Sweden, with the GolfJoy Spica 3 at the heart of many installations. We spoke with him about how it started, why he chose GolfJoy and where he sees the market heading.
A short summer and a smart idea
Sweden has beautiful nature, but a short golf season. The long winters make it hard to play and practice consistently throughout the year. That is exactly where Virpi saw an opportunity.
“At the same time, I saw how simulator technology was improving and becoming a realistic alternative for both practice and entertainment”, he says. With a background in construction and a shared love of interior design together with his wife, a clear plan took shape. Not just installing technology, but creating complete golf environments. Spaces where people can play year-round and that also look and feel great.
That idea became GSS Golf Studio Sweden.
From first conversation to ready to play
The GSS approach is a turnkey solution. Every project starts with a conversation about the customer’s needs and the available space. GSS then designs the simulator, selects the right technology, builds the enclosure, installs the hardware and software and calibrates everything until it is ready to use.
“The result is a turnkey golf experience where the customer can start playing immediately”, says Virpi. Depending on the complexity, an installation is often completed within one or two days.
Why the choice fell on GolfJoy
Before GSS went with GolfJoy, the team compared several brands and technologies. They looked at performance, reliability, ease of installation, support, software compatibility and overall value. That makes sense, because GSS delivers to private customers and commercial venues alike.
